It is hard to explain that rush of adrenaline as you are at the edge about to take a leap of faith. In August 2022, I felt that rush while I waved my mother good bye as she went back home after she left me at Africa University to begin my studies. I was overwhelmed by both anxiety and excitement for the new path that was ahead of me. I told myself , it’s time to grow up and experience that campus life all the older Africa University students talk about.
In my time here, I have found that AU is a tapestry of different cultures and nationalities. It is a wonderful feeling to know that you are witnessing the diversity and unity of Africa first hand within a few acres of land. ,This is a community where our tongues speak in different languages but our hearts and minds understand each other. The diversity on campus gives both students and staff an opportunity to learn and understand different cultures.
As my time at Africa University progressed, I made friends and acquaintances from different backgrounds and nationalities. My life on campus is a refreshing one and I feel privileged to be part of such a diverse community.
Education is priority at Africa University. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that your future lies in the hands of an institution that values learning and will always strive for its students to succeed. Education is the key to a brighter future and Africa University is indeed a beacon of knowledge and opportunity for all its students and staff. Attending seminars and workshops is a wonderful opportunity to acquire more knowledge. We gain exposure to new ideas and perspectives which expands one’s knowledge.
Don’t get me wrong, with all the wonderful, marvelous and first class experiences, you are bound to face a few challenges on campus. You might experience culture shock and communication breakdown due the diversity, but as some say “you live, you learn.”
For those about to take the leap of faith and join Africa University, you will learn new languages and cultures, just make sure you keep an open mind and trust the process, go with the flow. AU is a community that provides its members with opportunities to learn new skills, cultures, languages and it molds you into a model citizen for the different and diverse communities of Africa. Campus life is a lifestyle, adventure and a culture.
