Former President of the Republic of Mozambique and current President of the Joaquim Chissano Foundation, H.E. Joaquim Alberto Chissano, is a towering figure in African politics and humanitarian efforts.

Born in 1939 in Mozambique, Chissano’s political journey began as a young activist in the fight against Portuguese colonial rule. Forced to flee to France due to persecution, he became a founding member of the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO) in Tanzania in 1962.
